General Motors invests R $ 1.9 billion to produce new engines

Joinville factory will produce new three-cylinder engines General Motors Mercosul announced investments of R $ 1.9 billion for the production of a new line of engines in Brazil.The brand inaugurated a new building of 46,800 m² that will house six new lines: two of machining blocks, two of heads, a sub-assembly line of heads and an assembly line of motors.

] The unit of Joinville will increase from 15 thousand m² to 61,8 thousand m². The production of 120 thousand annual motors will increase to 420 thousand thrusters, besides the blocks and cabeçotes produced. The brand estimates the creation of 400 new direct and indirect jobs.

Factory 4.0

With investments the factory will receive new intelligent manufacturing technologies (4.0), including robotic stations, autonomous material handling system, process monitoring system through cameras, electric motor tests , inventory management and programming through software connected to the supply chain, among others.

With the arrival of new technologies, production will be monitored in real time, through process management systems accessible through tablets and smartphones.
